Letterman's done it, too.

He started in radio, y'know.
Wireless, it was called back then in the 1920's.
New-fangled. What is "fangled?"

Pornographic Magazines ebay LOUD FAST EBAY RULES!
I've discoved who some of my customers are.
You've probably heard of them.
All of my clients seem to be very cool.
The way I see it is that if you are an associate - of any some sort - of mine,
then you must be cool.
So . . .
Welcome to The Club.
We should vote on a name for it.
Our thing, that is.
Here's a tip.
Dump most of your post-sixties superhero comics.
Prices will drop and stabilize via ebay.
Everybody who wants one has one.
And the pool of people that trade in comics as a collectible will shrink.
Not enough new blood. Kids couldn't care less.
Not much of a commodity to them, either.
They'll end up a dime a dozen. Or a dozen for a dollar.
In the very last moment they will be like dusty papyrus . . .but gone to dust.
(It's pulp paper, people.)

Or it'll end up being an elistist geek thing. Like Speilberg and his Rockwells.
If you're a comic art aficionado, you should move on to magazine illustrators. Workin' for the slicks and gettin' that big paycheck was what it was all about.
A cult of some fraternal order of an absurdist sort of nature or some such nonsensical BS.
My son would rather buy code for internet avatar widgets.
He wants to learn to write computer game code rather than pay for it.

Keys, rare and scarce are the only way to go.
And original art. Some nice prints maybe. Posters and such.

CGC is a fad latched onto comics as a commodity enhancer.
Once hard copy comics are no longer collected, condition won't matter.

Prices will drop and stabilize via ebay.

So what is rare and scarce wins the money race, as far as long-term.

By that I mean the next 50 years, or for as long as I live.

Really long-term, I'm thinking Museums worldwide will want a taste of pulp for their collections that they use to rotate exhibits curated by coinisssouirs. Not to mention academic librariy museums. And the super-rich. Plus the Uber-riche.
Oh . . . and don't let me plug my institute_for_advanced_magazine_studies
(ed. note: skip this hype if you want.
Here it comes. Duck!)
Mexico and S. America are on ebay selling away their history as if for mere money.
I told DTA, many years ago, that we should take a swing through Mexico and S. America on a book buying spree.
Out comes all the treasured printed artifacts and relics.
Now, what we could have picked up for pennies, costs many dollars more on ebay.

Was that an ethnic slur?

Oops. Sorry. I'll never say shit.

Anywaze . . .
So . . .

I'll just swipe from my blogs.

So, this is now a greatest hits thingy.

Chaykin’s first job in mainstream comic books was in DC romance titles, a genre which soon died out. “The guys who edited them were failed book editors, and the guys who replaced them were comic book geeks. So they basically threw away the idea of girl readers, which really pissed me off, because I like girls.”

True Life Secrets #30 Charlton 1956 "Vice Girl"

Tom Walker takes his family to the picture show to watch a
movie about the horrors of nuclear war and civil defense. Tom
loves civil defense. While leaving the theater Tom announces
that he has set aside the entire Saturday afternoon aside to
do a safety check at home. Mother intervenes and suggests a
quick trip to the soda fountain first. Tom sits silently, his mind
too focused on civil defense to relax (“These are troubled
times!”). Eventually, they get home. It’s on fire! The family
jumps into action and quickly puts the fire out (using “a standard
5-gallon pump-tank fire extinguisher to which has been
fitted 25 feet of extinguisher hose.”). The fire turns out to be
the fault of the son, Billy, who left a kerosene lamp burning.
A single fireman shows up to compliment the family on its
fire-fighting prowess and makes an observation about the son
(“You’ve been getting careless, Billy!”). Billy is suitably chastened
but Tom makes sure his boy is reminded a few more
times about his potentially tragic mistake. Later, while Tom
is fireproofing the drapes, Mother thinks it would be a good
idea for the family get away for a little vacation. Tom agrees
and suggests that they go into the big city. The kids are delighted.
The daughter wants to go shopping and Billy wants
to see a ball game. So the following weekend the Walker family
visits Tom’s brother in the big city. Do they shop? No. Do
they see a ball game? Nope. Tom’s brother is hosting a civil
defense demonstration! Whee! Billy starts to get a little cranky
(“I thought I came to the city to have some fun!”). Tom reminds
Billy about his stupid mistake (“I thought you learned
your lesson!”). Fortunately, Billy meets the Smiths, a nice family
that doesn’t care at all about civil defense. They offer to
take Billy to the zoo. Just as Billy and the Smiths return from
their outing there’s a giant explosion that blows out the Smith’s
apartment window and throws all the furniture around the
room. Fires break out in the apartment. There are fires all over
the city! The fire department is stretched to the limit! Phone
lines are nearly overloaded! Was it an A-Bomb?! No. It was
just the city’s largest industrial plant exploding. What a relief!
Thanks to civil defense training the damage wasn’t as bad as
it could have been. Unless you were like the Smiths who didn’t
have time for civil defense. They lost everything. Upbeat fun
from the makers of America in Flames.

Hentai: Pornography. Stay away unless you're in the market for it.

Yaoi: Guy on guy porn. Sometimes sellers don't exactly know what this means, so they will call shonen-ai (listed below) yaoi in all of their auctions. It's still a bad idea to get this unless you want it, y'know?

Shonen-ai: Guy on guy romance with absolutely nothing sexual involved. Usually nothing past a kiss.

Yuri: Female on female sex. Unlike yaoi listings, these will always be porn

"Pairings": This can mean anything, but usually it just means light romance between a man and a woman. Safe.

"Normal": This means the doujinshi has absolutely no sexual air to it whatsoever. Perfectly safe.

18P, 32P, etc: Page count. Most doujinshis have fewer than 40 pages.

The three-act saga is built on samples from the 1970s, the movie's time frame. Devised largely by Sean "Diddy" Combs' production team the Hitmen, it goes beyond the obvious Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Isley Brothers and Curtis Mayfield sources to include the work of lesser-known but potent artists such as the Wichita group Rudy Love & the Love Family, Florida soul guitarist Little Beaver and upstate New York funk brigade Larry Ellis & the Black Hammer.

“We are in a fragmenting culture, where our certainties of even a few decades ago are questioned and where it is common for young men and women who have had years of education, to know nothing about the world, to have read nothing, knowing only some specialty or other, for instance, computers,” she said in her speech. “We never once stopped to ask, How are we, our minds, going to change with the new Internet, which has seduced a whole generation into its inanities so that even quite reasonable people will confess that once they are hooked, it is hard to cut free, and they may find a whole day has passed in blogging and blugging etc.?”
